Resort Profile

An upscale, kid-friendly, all-inclusive option on Huatulco’s uncrowded Tangolunda Beach along Mexico’s west coast, Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa caters well to families. Couples are better off at the sister property down the road, Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa (Aa2), although rates there are often higher. The beach is mediocre at best by Mexico standards and has limited lounge chairs and palapas (although the lack of crowds can be nice, this factor has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, lowering it from the lower A range to the upper B range); but the property offers a great kids club with a rock climbing wall, an impressive six swimming pools (two of which are adults-only and three of which have infinity edges), a mezcal bar, a sleek adults-only music lounge, a babysitting service, good food for an all-inclusive with strong variety (five a la carte restaurants plus a buffet), a large oceanfront thatched hut bar, strong spa and fitness facilities (if a bit dated), and modern accommodations with beige and bright orange accents. Rooms come with furnished balconies or terraces and flat-screen TVs; some also have jacuzzis. The Preferred Club suites are larger and come with perks like upgraded minibar items and bath amenities, access to a private lounge and beach section, special concierge service, private check-in/check-out, and a pillow menu. Activities include tennis, a seasonal baby sea turtle release program (July through December), surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, jet skiing, scuba diving, and theme nights. There’s also golf at Las Parotas Golf Club next door, which was named after the large trees native to the area and designed by Mexican architect Agustin Piza.

Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are provided on-site for guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with government requirements. A minimum 3-night stay is required to qualify. Should a guest test positive, the guest and one other are eligible to stay at the resort free of charge for up to 14 days.
