Resort Profile

A large, economical resort with 15 bars and 14 restaurants, the Grand Oasis is known for its plethora of entertainment and lively party scene, both during Spring Break in March and April and throughout the year. The party atmosphere isn’t for everyone, the grounds can be quite crowded at peak times of year, and the on-site restaurants vary in quality (the Brazilian steakhouse Bahia Rodizzio often gets the best reviews); but the resort offers an excellent white-sand beach, the only on-site casino in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, a par-3 golf course (9 holes), DJs and live music, resident iguanas and peacocks, an enormous swimming pool that winds its way through the property with three swim-up bars, and fairly good rooms for the price (if a bit basic). The heart of Cancun isn’t far, but there’s plenty of on-site nightlife, too, with options ranging from a hookah bar to various nightclubs to cabaret burlesque shows. The strong pool and beach areas here help the Overall Beach Resort Rating significantly. Activities include Pilates and yoga classes, beach volleyball, spin classes, Zumba classes, beach soccer, and beach and foam parties. Aquaworld is within walking distance; the impressive selection of water sports there includes excellent scuba diving, parasailing, snorkeling with whale sharks and other marine life, Flowrider surfing, jet skiing, jet boat rides, deep sea fishing, Flyboarding, jungle boat tours, day trips to Isla Mujeres, and more. Jet skiing is also available right on the Grand Oasis beach. The Oasis Cancun Lite (Ba1) section of the complex has even lower rates but more basic rooms. The Pyramid at Grand Cancun (A2) section has better rooms but higher rates.

Complimentary on-site COVID-19 antigen tests are available prior to departure for guests traveling to the United States (minimum three-night stay required for eligibility).

The TripValue score compares a resort’s Overall Beach Resort Rating to its average room price (which we express as the Price-Implied Rating). It tells you if the resort is relatively underpriced (a positive TripValue), overpriced (a negative TripValue), or fairly priced (an Even TripValue), on average.
