A more tranquil resort than most in Cancun, on the far south end of the Hotel Zone, this recently refurbished Westin property is far from Cancun’s bustle and nightlife, but closer to the airport. With reasonable rates, it attains a TripValue of +7, our top score for value. The beach is more narrow here than it is in most of the Hotel Zone to the north, but it boasts white sand and a secluded, private feel. There’s no swim-up bar, not all rooms have been recently renovated (there’s a large gap in quality between the old and new rooms), the service gets inconsistent reviews, on-site activities are limited (there isn’t much for kids), and there are just three on-site eateries (and not much in the surrounding vicinity); but the property offers four (relatively small) swimming pools, a unique restaurant named “Sea & Stones” where entrees are prepared on hot stones and guests dine under palapas on the beach, a sports bar with 21 flavors of artisanal ice cream, an excellent fitness center, and an upscale spa with beachside massages and a variety of treatments including Mayan Temazcal steam treatments. The hotel allows guests to borrow workout gear as well, including sneakers (the socks are yours to keep). While the standard guest rooms have not been updated, the newer accommodations comprise studios and two-bedroom, two-bath villas; they have an attractive beach chic vibe and come equipped with comfortable beds, modern amenities, large flat-screen TVs, and whitewashed wood flooring. Activities include parasailing, water skiing, Flowrider surfing, and snorkeling.
The resort can facilitate departure COVID-19 antigen testing with local providers.
