Part of the greater Bahia Principe resort complex just north of Tulum (in Akumal), the 1,080-room Bahia Principe Grand Coba is the largest and most economical option on the compound, and caters well to families. The rooms in the Coba section are a longer walk from the beach than those of the other areas (the Bahia Principe Grand Tulum and Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal sections), some restaurants require long pants for men, the ocean is a little rocky, the rooms are on the basic side, and some guest reviews complain of mosquitoes and inconsistent overall service; but the property offers a nice white-sand beach, large swimming pools – including a kids pool with small waterslides, access to 10 restaurants and nine bars, a spa with Mayan-inspired treatments, an on-site dolphinarium, and a casino and nightclub. The Riviera Maya Golf Club is just across the road. A shuttle is provided to get around the grounds and to the beach; guests have access to the amenities of sister property Bahia Principe Grand Tulum next door. One complimentary hour of non-motorized water sports such as kayaking, sailing, and snorkeling per day is included in the all-inclusive rate. The Mayan ruins at Tulum aren’t far.
Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts is offering the COVID-19 viral antigen test on-site and at no cost to guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received within 24-48 hours prior to departure as required by the CDC, in written and/or electronical format. Guests should contact the Front Desk upon arrival to schedule departure testing. In the event of a positive test, the affected guest and a companion can extend their stay up to 10 days at no additional cost. A three-night minimum stay is required to be eligible for both the free on-site test and the 10-day extension.
