One of the better all-around beach resorts in Barbados, the all-inclusive Turtle Beach by Elegant Hotels boasts a nice beach and a great location in the St. Lawrence Gap (which is known on the island for its bars, restaurants, shops, and nightlife). It caters especially well to families, but singles will also appreciate the location. The rooms are decidedly basic for the price point, the spa services offered are limited, and the ocean can be a little rough for swimming at times; but the property offers a good beachfront (it’s not overly large, but it has nice white sand and turquoise water), three on-site restaurants plus a coffee bar and deli, an on-site ice cream parlor, two full-size swimming pools plus a large jacuzzi with rock features, a game room (with ping pong, billiards, and foosball), a decent fitness center with spin bikes and a good amount of open space, and a pleasant staff. Rooms come with private balconies or patios, mini-fridges, flat-screen TVs, and bathrooms with baths and showers; junior suites and one-bedroom suites are available. Activities include complimentary golf at the PGA-sanctioned Barbados Golf Club, culinary and island tours, mixology classes, snorkeling lessons, sailing, and kayaking; surfing and body surfing are also possible (Barry’s Surf School is just around the corner). An excellent selection of off-site shops and restaurants is available within easy walking distance.
All travelers to Barbados are required to present proof of a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at a an accredited or recognized laboratory within three days prior to arrival. It is also necessary to complete your on-line immigration and customs form by going to www.travelform.gov.bb. The form should be completed 24 hours prior to arrival, and preferably include the upload of your negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Travelers will be required to retest with a COVID-19 PCR test 5 days (120 hours) after their arrival in the country. If the result of that second PCR test is negative, that traveler can now enjoy unrestricted movement to public spaces (including the beach). Guests from High and Medium Category countries (which currently includes the UK, the US and Canada) must quarantine in their rooms until the second test is negative.
