A solid budget resort with optional all-inclusive packages and an excellent beachfront, the Emporio Cancun caters well to both families and couples. It’s one of the better overall values in Cancun (the TripValue here is +5, which is robust). The rooms are basic and somewhat dated (they’re still a fairly good value, though, all things considered), the fitness center is very small with limited equipment, and dining variety is well below average – even for an optional all-inclusive (there are just two on-site restaurants); but the property offers clean grounds, a quiet atmosphere, good overall service, a bar right on the beach, a nice swim-up bar in the pool, bikes for rent, and an on-site car rental agency. The beautiful white-sand beach has plenty of space and lounge chairs, with palapas; it’s the main highlight here and helps the Overall Beach Resort Rating significantly, raising it from the lower B range to the upper B range. There are off-site restaurants in the vicinity, plus a supermarket across the street. On-site activities are limited, but Aquaworld is within walking distance; the impressive selection of water sports there includes excellent scuba diving, parasailing, snorkeling with whale sharks and other marine life, Flowrider surfing, jet skiing, jet boat rides, deep sea fishing, Flyboarding, jungle boat tours, day trips to Isla Mujeres, and more.
Departure COVID-19 testing is available on-site, but it is not complimentary. The fees are approximately $25 USD per antigen test and $100 USD per PCR test.
