An upscale resort with reasonable rates and world class scuba diving and snorkeling, the InterContinental Presidente Cozumel caters well to both couples and families (especially couples); with a +4 TripValue, it’s one of Cozumel’s best deals. The vibe here is very quiet and relaxed (probably too quiet for party seekers, and it’s not so close to any downtown areas or nightlife). The beach is small and has a very rocky shoreline (this factor has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, bringing it from the upper A range to the lower A range), there’s no swim-up bar, and there aren’t any off-site shops or restaurants within walking distance; but the property offers beautiful accommodations with tasteful modernity, excellent on-site restaurants with strong cuisine variety for a non-all-inclusive (there are four on-site restaurants), a nice infinity pool with a view, the Chiqui Club for kids, a modern fitness center with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a quality spa with hydrotherapy and a good selection of treatments. Rooms are equipped with contemporary wood furnishings, marble floors, and large terraces with hammocks or plush outdoor seating; the larger Reef Suites and Presidential Suites offer even more, including a plethora of space and deck terraces with plunge pools. Activities include outstanding scuba diving and snorkeling (Palancar Reef, the world’s second-largest, is just offshore), deep sea fishing, yoga classes, and romantic dinners on the beach.
Complimentary on-site COVID-19 antigen tests are available for guests traveling back to the United States (minimum three-night stay required). At check-in, travel insurance can be purchased for $5 USD (plus tax) per person per night; the insurance will cover accommodation and meal expenses in the event of an extended stay due to a positive test.
