An excellent value in Freeport (the TripValue is +4) with ample activities, Taino Beach Resort & Clubs caters well to families with a nice white-sand beachfront and affordable rates. The rooms are basic and quite dated, the service gets inconsistent reviews, there’s just one on-site restaurant, the bare bones fitness center disappoints, spa facilities are lacking, and there isn’t much going on at night; but the property offers an impressive 20,000-square-foot pool with a 100-foot waterslide and a lazy river, a spacious beach with calm water for swimming (the pool and beach have a positive effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, upgrading it to the middle B range), a highly unique grotto cave-style swim-up bar, beachfront open-air dining at “Taino by the Sea,” bikes and scooters for rent, on-site laundry facilities, and a grocery delivery service. The condo-style rooms come with kitchens, but many have somewhat haphazardly-placed beds. Some have jacuzzis. Activities include jet skiing, deep sea fishing, glass bottom boat rides, snorkeling, kayaking, beach bonfires, beach volleyball (on a very subpar court), festive Bahamian nights, and banana boat rides. A ferry to Port Lucaya, which offers a great selection of shops and restaurants, leaves every hour.
