One of Montego Bay’s more upscale resorts, the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall caters very well to families. The somewhat rocky beach is manmade and on the small side (this factor has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, downgrading it from the upper A range to the lower A range) and on-site water sports and other activities are fairly limited for a kid-friendly resort of this caliber; but the property offers a trendy swimming pool area, an outstanding spa with beautiful oceanside treatment rooms and in-room treatments, a great fitness center with plenty of natural light and good equipment, unique fitness facilities such as an aqua gym and underwater spin bikes, oceanfront fire pits, an above-average kids club, a popular jerk chicken shack by the beach, private poolside or beach cabanas available for rent, and quality food for an all-inclusive with top-notch restaurant variety. The rooms can vary in quality a bit, but they’re excellent for the most part (especially the suites), equipped with comfortable beds, large flat-screen TVs, 24-hour room service, and furnished balconies or terraces. Guests in the Butler Suites receive a cell phone upon check-in for direct contact with their personal butler. Activities include dance lessons, cooking classes, nightly music and entertainment, beachside yoga, kayaking, and sailing. The concierge can help book sightseeing tours and other excursions as well. The beautiful, PGA-caliber Half Moon Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. is just across the street. The quieter, adults-only Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall next door shares amenities (including the restaurants); its slightly better rooms result in an Overall Beach Resort Rating that’s one notch higher (A1).
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are available for guests returning to the United States (minimum three-night stay required to qualify). In the event of a positive test, the resort offers up to a 50% discount for guests needing to quarantine until recovery, for up to 14 days (extended stays for up to 14 days are complimentary for guests that enroll in the resort’s Extended Stay protection program for $29 per person upon check-in).
