With plenty of activities for kids, an adults-only nightclub, exceptional spa and fitness facilities, and a location within easy walking distance of downtown Ocho Rios, the sprawling Moon Palace Jamaica attracts a mix of families, couples, and singles; it ranks among the top wellness resorts in the Caribbean and boasts an outstanding staff. After an extensive renovation, the property reopened in 2015. The beach is on the small and cramped side (this factor has a negative impact on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, downgrading it from the middle to lower A range) and dining variety is just so-so for an all-inclusive, especially for one of this size and caliber (there are just four restaurants); but the resort offers Vegas casino-esque marble interiors, a top-notch spa with deep tissue massages and an experienced staff (with 23 treatment rooms and a hydrotherapy circuit, it’s the largest spa in Jamaica), four strong swimming pool areas with swim-up bars and a twisting waterslide, an often-lively atmosphere, great food for an all-inclusive, an impressive kids club, and a state-of-the-art fitness center with a plethora of equipment. Rooms come with flat-screen smart TVs, liquor dispensers, stocked minibars, free Wi-Fi, chic balconies, and complimentary bottles of red wine upon arrival. Activities include FlowRider surfing by the beach, paddleboarding, scuba diving, snorkeling excursions, kayaking, beach volleyball, and sailing. Deep sea fishing and parasailing are available in the immediate vicinity. Bike tours, ATV tours, and trips to local attractions such as Dunn’s River Falls and Bob Marley’s former home (now a museum) can also be arranged.
Departure COVID-19 antigen (rapid) testing is available on-site at no cost to guests (for up to two guests per room staying a minimum of three nights) traveling to the United States.
