With an exceptional white-sand beach and much more affordable rates than other properties in the exclusive Mayakoba resort complex of the Riviera Maya, the relatively new Andaz Mayakoba (opened 2017) is one of Mexico’s very best values; it caters well to both families and couples with a relaxed atmosphere. The high quality of the beach and restaurants helps elevate the Overall Beach Resort Rating to Aaa, giving the hotel the distinction of being one of the lowest-priced Aaa-rated resorts in the Mexico/Caribbean region (on average). There aren’t any off-site shops or restaurants within walking distance and the resort is quite spread out; but the property offers a beautiful setting with lush vegetation and nature trails that wind through mangroves and lagoons, two swimming pools (one by the beach), four outstanding restaurants with contemporary designs and menus, a bright fitness center with new equipment and wooden floors and ceilings, a bar with over 40 local mezcals and tequilas, and a PGA-caliber golf course designed by Greg Norman. Free bikes and golf cart shuttles are available for getting around. The nature-inspired rooms have simplistic charm, a color palette reflective of stone and sand, minibars re-stocked daily, and plenty of natural light. Activities include stand-up paddleboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving, kite surfing, parasailing, and exploring nearby Mayan ruins. There are nature tours and other activities for children as well.
Andaz Mayakoba, Banyan Tree Mayakoba, Fairmont Mayakoba and Rosewood Mayakoba provide complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests on-site for guests staying three nights or more. PCR tests are also available at an additional charge. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at a discounted rate.
