Located just south of Cancun at the beginning of Mexico’s Riviera Maya coastline near Puerto Morelos, Secrets Silversands is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort that caters well to couples with a relaxed vibe and a good selection of activities. The beach is smaller and less impressive than many others along the Riviera Maya and there isn’t much in the immediate vicinity or within walking distance; but the property offers eight swimming pools, sleek rooms, good food for an all-inclusive with excellent cuisine variety, complimentary greens fees at nearby Grand Coral and El Tinto golf courses (both designed by PGA champion Nick Price), and a hotel staff that goes the extra mile. The resort’s modern accommodations come with private terraces or balconies, jacuzzis, and complimentary mini bars; the Preferred Club suites are particularly spacious and come with extra perks like a special concierge and access to a private lounge. Activities include beach volleyball (the court is quite good), yoga classes, water aerobics and aqua spinning, a seasonal sea turtle release program, sailing and other non-motorized water sports, tequila tastings, scuba diving, reef snorkeling, Spanish and cooking lessons, mini golf, tennis, and deep sea fishing excursions. There are three other Secrets properties along the Riviera Maya, and all have higher Overall Beach Resort Ratings; they are Secrets Capri Riviera Cancun (A1) and the more expensive Secrets Akumal Riviera Cancun (Aa2) and Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun (Aaa).
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are provided on-site for guests traveling back to the United States.
