A trendy, chic, 80-room boutique hotel with a South Beach party vibe and relatively low rates, the San Juan Water Beach Club Hotel is a good economy-to-mid-range option for couples and singles; it’s one of the island’s best values (the TripValue is +4, which is robust). It doesn’t cater as well, however, to families with kids. There’s no spa (quality massages are offered, but there’s no full-service spa), both the pool and fitness center are tiny and unimpressive (despite the pool’s great rooftop view), airplane noise can be noticeable, and on-site activities are limited; but the property offers an excellent beachfront, two quality on-site restaurants, a nice rooftop bar with commendable ocean views, and great on-site nightlife. Rooms come with coffee makers with Puerto Rican Yaucono coffee, flat-screen TVs, sleek ocean-inspired décor, Gilchrist & Soames bath amenities, and a “Tus Deseos” (Your Wishes) board mounted in each room where guests can write their needs, ranging from extra towels to local fruit with their room service breakfast. Some rooms have balconies and the suites come with telescopes for stargazing. Activities include tennis, sunrise aqua yoga sessions, and nightly lounge music spun by local and international DJs. The San Juan airport is right next door and shops and restaurants (including fast food chain restaurants) are available within walking distance.
As Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, the CDC COVID-19 testing requirement for U.S. travelers re-entering the U.S. from international destinations does not apply.
