With unique, double-decker thatched seaside cabanas, beautiful Mexican-inspired architecture, Nickelodeon-themed smoothies and activities for kids, and a quiet location north of Puerto Morelos and well south of Cancun, this Azul property by Karisma caters very well to both families and couples (especially families). The cabanas can be difficult to reserve and aren’t complimentary after the first day, not all menu items are part of the all-inclusive plan, and the beach is small and below average by Riviera Maya standards; but the resort offers excellent food for an all-inclusive, a tequila bar with over 30 tequilas, very strong overall service, quality live entertainment, multiple swimming pool areas, an above-average swim-up bar, and great spa and kids club facilities. The upscale accommodations come with luxury amenities such as aromatherapy and pillow menus, rain showers, flat-screen TVs, deep sinks, and light green and beige accents; some suites have swim-up access, and some are designed specifically for families with extras like baby equipment and toys. Activities include cooking classes, dance classes, snorkeling, Spanish lessons, kayaking tours, yoga classes, and beach volleyball (the court is quite good).
