A mid-range all-inclusive option on Huatulco’s uncrowded Tangolunda Beach along Mexico’s west coast, the Barcelo Huatulco caters well to families. The beach is mediocre at best by Mexico standards and has limited lounge chairs (although the lack of crowds can be nice), the rooms are somewhat dated, the food is typical for an all-inclusive (nothing spectacular), and on-site activities are limited (especially water sports); but the property offers a swimming pool with small water slides, a second pool for adults only, a solid fitness center with a good amount of equipment and space, a basic spa, a kids club, a game room with multiple foosball and ping pong tables, and great dining variety at six on-site restaurants (two of which are buffets). Rooms come with furnished balconies or terraces, minibars, and flat-screen TVs; many have excellent ocean views. Activities include nightly shows, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and golf at Las Parotas Golf Club next door, which was named after the large trees native to the area and was designed by Mexican architect Agustin Piza.
On-site COVID-19 testing is offered prior to departure, but it isn’t complimentary.
