The most affordable resort on Huatulco’s uncrowded Tangolunda/Rincon Sabroso beaches on Mexico’s west coast, Camino Real Zaashila is an excellent value and caters especially well to couples seeking serenity. With a +6 TripValue, it’s one of Mexico’s best bargains. The rooms are fairly basic, there’s no swim-up bar, the fitness center is small and underwhelming, and on-site activities are quite limited; but the property offers one of the best and widest beachfronts in the Huatulco area, the largest (and decidedly most impressive) swimming pool in the Huatulco area, outdoor spa treatments, a nice thatched hut bar overlooking the beach, alluring oceanfront dining at the restaurant Azul Profundo, a good room service menu, a friendly hotel staff, and unique Mediterranean design influences throughout. The private beach and spread-out pool area make the atmosphere especially quiet, but there isn’t much for kids to do and there isn’t much going on at night. All rooms come with furnished, whitewashed balconies or terraces reminiscent of the Greek islands; most have impressive ocean views. Some rooms also have private plunge pools – a rarity for this price range. Las Parotas Golf Club is just down the street; the course was named after the large trees native to the area and designed by Mexican architect Agustin Piza. Partial all-inclusive plans are available, but not obligatory.
