One of the most upscale resorts in Puerto Vallarta, the quiet, adults-only Casa Velas is a nice boutique all-inclusive option, especially for couples. Its beautiful grounds are surrounded by a golf course and conveniently located adjacent to Marina Vallarta’s plethora of shops and restaurants (and water sports), so there’s plenty to do. The resort is not directly on the beach (it’s about a 10-to-15-minute walk or 2-minute shuttle; this factor downgrades the Beach Quality score and has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating), airplane noise from the nearby airport is sometimes noticeable, and dining variety is below average for an all-inclusive; but the property offers outstanding overall service, a quality fitness center, new spa labyrinths and meditation pods, excellent on-site restaurants (especially Emiliano’s) that source ingredients from the resort’s botanical garden, yoga classes in the garden, a nice swimming pool with comfortable loungers and a swim-up bar, and a private beach club with a second swimming pool and a second restaurant with Asian-inspired cuisine. The resort’s hacienda-style accommodations come with plenty of space, down comforters, L’Occitane bath products, and private plunge pools or jacuzzis. Water sports at Marina Vallarta next door include deep sea fishing, sailing, whale watching, and scuba diving, among others.
