A budget-friendly beachfront option just south of Bridgetown, the Coconut Court Beach Hotel is one of the best values on the island for both couples and families; it’s also home to over 300 critically endangered Hawksbill sea turtles during the nesting season, which runs from July through November each year. The rooms vary in quality and some are basic and dated (the Deluxe rooms are more modern than the standard rooms), the pool is relatively small and lackluster, and there’s no spa or fitness center; but the property offers a very nice white-sand beach with palm trees for shade and a decent amount of space, ocean views from all rooms, good on-site restaurants with charming open-air dining and beach views (at The Deck) and live music (at Jake’s), and an Activities Desk that can arrange car rentals and tours (the hotel recommends Ted’s Island Tour, the George Washington House, and The Garrison Historic tours). Other perks include free round trip airport transfers, a shopping shuttle to Bridgetown, and welcome bottles of Pirate Punch upon arrival. Rooms come with flat-screen TVs, ceiling fans, microwaves, and private balconies with ocean views. Activities include manager’s rum punch parties, theme nights with local cuisine, moonlight movies on the beach, kayaking, and on-site snorkeling. Other nearby attractions include the St. Lawrence Gap (nightlife, bars, and restaurants), Oistins (famous for its Friday fish fry), the South Coast Boardwalk, the Barbados Museum, and The Garrison Savannah horse racing track.
All travelers to Barbados are required to present proof of a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at a an accredited or recognized laboratory within three days prior to arrival. It is also necessary to complete your on-line immigration and customs form by going to www.travelform.gov.bb. The form should be completed 24 hours prior to arrival, and preferably include the upload of your negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Travelers will be required to retest with a COVID-19 PCR test 5 days (120 hours) after their arrival in the country. If the result of that second PCR test is negative, that traveler can now enjoy unrestricted movement to public spaces (including the beach). Guests from High and Medium Category countries (which currently includes the UK, the US and Canada) must quarantine in their rooms until the second test is negative.
The hotel can facilitate on-site COVID-19 testing prior to departure with a private medical provider at cost of US$200 per person (aged 5 years and older). Free testing is also available at a nearby local clinic.
