A tranquil, upscale boutique hotel on the west coast of Barbados, the Coral Reef Club caters well to couples with an outstanding spa, excellent cuisine, lush flower gardens, and a variety of accommodation types (including cottages, suites, and villas). Rates can be quite high, the rooms don’t have TVs, and the beach is fairly small and narrow (and a good portion of it is shaded for much of the day); but the property offers an upscale open-air restaurant with ocean views and a rotating menu (plus a vegetarian menu), two swimming pools, an on-site salon that offers haircuts and other services, a good selection of water sports and other activities, a very attentive staff, and beautifully landscaped gardens with Frangipani and Pride of India trees and Bougainvillea and Croton flower shrubs. The spa, set within a beautiful colonial building with coral stone walls and dark chocolate wood, offers Natura Bisse products, an outdoor hydro-pool with shaded cabanas, tropical gardens with waterfalls, and a variety of treatments including the signature Lemongrass and Ginger Rub and the Caribbean Calm Massage. Accommodations come with furnished balconies or patios, air conditioning, and abundant space; some cottages and suites have private plunge pools. Activities include weekly garden tours (look for Bajan green monkeys), tennis (with complimentary lessons), yoga classes, Hobie Cat sailing, Laser and Sunfish sailing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, scuba diving, and deep sea fishing.
All travelers to Barbados are required to present proof of a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at a an accredited or recognized laboratory within three days prior to arrival. It is also necessary to complete your on-line immigration and customs form by going to www.travelform.gov.bb. The form should be completed 24 hours prior to arrival, and preferably include the upload of your negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Travelers will be required to retest with a COVID-19 PCR test 5 days (120 hours) after their arrival in the country. If the result of that second PCR test is negative, that traveler can now enjoy unrestricted movement to public spaces (including the beach). Guests from High and Medium Category countries (which currently includes the UK, the US and Canada) must quarantine in their rooms until the second test is negative. On-site testing at Coral Reef Club is available for a fee.
