A relatively isolated retreat, the all-inclusive Desire Riviera Maya Pearl is a couples-only, clothing-optional luxury resort with a hedonistic vibe near Puerto Morelos. It caters mostly to younger and middle-aged heterosexual couples. Photography and cell phones aren’t allowed in public areas, live entertainment can be provocative (a pro for some), and dining variety is below average for an all-inclusive; but the property offers a nice beach, a large swimming pool area with a swim-up bar, quality spa facilities with unique couples treatments, and an on-site nightclub. Guests also praise the staff and overall service. The rooms here aren’t quite as luxurious as you might expect for the price, but they come with plenty of space, and many have private plunge pools. Purely as a beach resort, the overall value here isn’t great – but guests pay for the experience, which is definitely unique. Activities include beach volleyball, yoga classes, and scuba diving (there’s a dive shop on-site), among more. While relaxed, the scene here can be quite social, too; but the hedonistic, racy vibe certainly isn’t for everyone.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are available on-site for guests traveling back to the United States (minimum three-night stay required). In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at the resort for up to 14 days at a discounted rate of $125 USD per night.
