Opened in 2016, Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort is one of the newer properties in the Cancun area; with a relaxed setting well north of the bustle of the Hotel Zone and a robust selection of activities, it caters well to both families and couples. The beach here isn’t quite as strong as those in the Hotel Zone, the on-site lazy river is only for Preferred Club guests, and the fitness center is somewhat underwhelming for a hotel of this caliber; but the property offers great food for an all-inclusive, top-notch restaurant variety, a nice spa, two large water slides, outstanding swimming pools (including two infinity pools), a bar under a large thatched palapa right on the beach, separate kids and teens clubs, and “bars” for kids and teens with non-alcoholic drinks. The resort’s very high quality, modern accommodations come with private balconies or terraces, daily refreshed mini bars, rain showers, and a Dreams Box for private 24-hour room service delivery. The Preferred Club suites are larger and slightly more upscale; some have elevated swim-out access with ocean views. The Greg Norman-designed Playa Mujeres Golf Club next door is one of the top courses in Mexico; greens fees are complimentary for guests. Other activities include beach volleyball, yoga and Pilates classes, rock climbing, deep sea fishing, cooking classes, Spanish lessons, wine and tequila tastings, scuba diving, jet skiing, Hobie Cat sailing, snorkeling, and water skiing. The ferry to Isla Mujeres is a short taxi ride south; you can also get there by catamaran.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are provided on-site for guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with government requirements. A minimum 3-night stay is required to qualify. Should a guest test positive, the guest and one other are eligible to stay at the resort free of charge for up to 14 days.
