On the north end of the Hotel Zone near the middle of the action, Dreams Sands Cancun caters well to couples and singles looking for a party atmosphere and nightlife. The beach is smaller and less impressive here than most Hotel Zone properties to the south, and lounge chairs can be difficult to reserve; the quality of the beach has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, downgrading it from the A range to the upper B range, but the water is also calmer and safer for swimming here relative to other resorts in the area. The fitness center is cramped and disappointing; but the property offers good food for an all-inclusive with excellent restaurant variety, a trendy swimming pool area with an often-lively swim-up bar, a sleek sports bar and music lounge, a sushi and ceviche bar just off the beach, a kids club, high quality rooms for the price, and a good spa with hydrotherapy and couples treatments. Activities include jet skiing, dance classes, big screen movies on the beach, yoga classes, cooking and cocktail classes, parasailing, Hobie Cat sailing, scuba diving, and kayaking. Greens fees are complimentary at Greg Norman-designed Playa Mujeres Golf Club nearby, one of the top courses in Mexico; however, the course isn’t within walking distance. Cancun’s shops, restaurants, and best nightlife spots, however, abound in the immediate vicinity.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are provided on-site for guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with government requirements. A minimum 3-night stay is required to qualify. Should a guest test positive, the guest and one other are eligible to stay at the resort free of charge for up to 14 days.
