Featuring romantic overwater bungalows reminiscent of a South Pacific luxury resort and plenty of great water sports options, the adults-only, all-inclusive El Dorado Maroma caters well to couples and honeymooners. The beach itself is wide and high-quality here – but boats, docks, and the overwater bungalows give it a less natural feel, which lowers the Beach Quality score and has a slight negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating. The fitness center is small and underwhelming and there aren’t any tennis courts; but the resort offers beachside massages, great food for an all-inclusive (with equally great restaurant variety), multiple swim-up bars, and beach butler service. The overwater bungalows have glass-bottom floors, private infinity plunge pools, and large decks with outdoor showers and access to the ocean. Other accommodation types offer jacuzzis, outdoor showers, lazy river swim-up access, and private infinity plunge pools as well, in various combinations. Activities include yoga and dance classes, tequila tastings, cooking classes, massage lessons, and more. Marina Maroma right next door offers horseback riding, ATV tours, deep sea fishing, swimming with dolphins, parasailing, jet skiing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and catamaran sailing – both individually and in various tour combinations.
Complimentary on-site COVID-19 antigen tests are available for guests returning to the United States. PCR tests are also available at a discounted rate. In the event of a positive test, the hotel will provide accommodations for up to 14 nights free of charge.
