One of Cancun’s lowest-priced beachfront properties, the Flamingo is a good value for both families and couples, especially for those seeking relative quietude. It’s located in the heart of the Hotel Zone, meaning that the best of Cancun’s nightlife isn’t too far. On-site dining variety is poor (there’s just one a la carte restaurant and one buffet), some guests complain about the general customer service, there’s no swim-up bar, the main pool is cramped and relatively unimpressive by Cancun standards, and the gym is one of the worst in the area (there’s just a few cardio machines and a few dumbbells); but the property offers an excellent white-sand beach (this factor is the main highlight and helps the Overall Beach Resort Rating significantly), an elevated deck with a second pool and nice ocean views, and an adults-only jacuzzi. Although a bit basic, the recently-renovated rooms are strong for the price; they’re clean and equipped with balconies or terraces, and some have swim-up access. On-site activities are limited, but include live shows, theme nights, and cooking classes; water sports and other attractions are available in the general vicinity. The Flamingo Mall across the street offers plenty of shops and places to eat, including Outback Steakhouse and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
On-site COVID-19 antigen testing is available prior to departure on a complimentary basis for guests staying four nights or more; otherwise, the fees are approximately $25 USD per antigen test and $100 USD per PCR test.
