With impeccable service, top-notch on-site dining, and an impressive offering of unique activities, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita caters well to both couples and families; it’s one of the best beach resorts in Mexico. Off-site shops and restaurants in the area are lacking and the airport in Puerto Vallarta is nearly an hour away; but the resort boasts outstanding accommodations with incredible ocean views and comfortable beds, two good beach areas that each have their own secluded feel, a standout kids club (complimentary, ages 5-12), a second-to-none tennis center with 10 courts (it features five hard courts and five synthetic grass courts), a spacious fitness center, state-of-the-art spa facilities (plus in-room massages) and three beautiful swimming pools (including the Nuna infinity pool overlooking the Pacific and the smaller plunge pools of the adult-oriented Tamai pool complex; there’s a large lazy river with a tropical jungle feel, too). There are four room categories: the Casitas, best for couples, come with sitting areas and furnished private terraces with ocean or garden views; the one- or two-bedroom Suites, best for families, come with the option of a private plunge pool; the larger Residential Suites come with spacious living areas, private infinity pools, outdoor showers, and mini kitchens; and the Residences and Villas come with full kitchens, full-size pools, and expansive living rooms. The resort also offers private deep-sea fishing charters (for marlin, tuna and dorado with an experienced captain), excursions to the Jose Cuervo distillery by private helicopter, surf lessons and boat trips to the best nearby breaks, scuba diving, yoga classes, and access to two Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses with premier ocean views. Other unique activities such as whale watching, flyboarding, ziplining, swimming with dolphins, mountain horseback riding expeditions, and luxury sailing and snorkeling cruises can be booked through Punta Mita Adventures, the on-site tour company.
