An economical resort on the south end of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, GR Caribe by Solaris caters well to couples with a quiet, tranquil atmosphere and unique whitewashed architecture reminiscent of Greece. The pool isn’t anything special by Cancun standards (and it lacks a swim-up bar), the food is mostly mediocre, and on-site dining variety is below average for an all-inclusive (there are just three restaurants); but the property offers a nice white-sand beach, large oceanfront jacuzzis with beautiful panoramic views (this is highly unique), a fairly good fitness center, a small spa with oceanfront massages, a free shuttle to Cancun’s nightlife, a very friendly and helpful staff, and charming accommodations (again, with a rustic, Santorini kind of feel with arched ceilings and other European features). Activities include mini golf, live entertainment at night, tennis, kayaking, sailing, windsurfing, and dance classes. Pedal boats are also available. Guests have access to the amenities of the Royal Solaris Cancun next door, which is more family-friendly.
Guests returning to the United States and staying four nights or more are eligible for a complimentary COVID-19 antigen test on-site, prior to departure (two people per room per stay). Additional tests can be purchased for $12 USD each (this is also the fee for guests staying less than four nights).
