Part of the massive four-property Grand Bahia Principe resort complex in Punta Cana, the Punta Cana section caters well to families. The rooms could use some updating, the food is mostly disappointing, most rooms are a long walk from the beach (though a shuttle is available), and the grounds can be crowded (pre-COVID); but the all-inclusive resort offers very reasonable rates, two large pools with swim-up bars, a good beach, excellent dining variety, a small kids water park, and a fun entertainment team that keeps activities going throughout the day. The Junior Suite Superior rooms come with jacuzzi tubs and a good amount of space. Guests also have access to the restaurants and other amenities of the greater complex. The three other sections at the Grand level are the Bavaro (B1), Turquesa (B2), and Aquamarine (Baa2) sections (they’re all very similar, except the Aquamarine is newer and adults only). The Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar, Esmeralda, and Fantasia properties (a step up in quality and price, and right on the beach) are also right next door. The Ambar (A2) is adults only. The Fantasia section (the seventh section, Ba1) is the most kid-friendly of the complex. Activities include parasailing, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, golf, banana boats, and more.
Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts is offering the COVID-19 viral antigen test on-site and at no cost to guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received within 24-48 hours prior to departure as required by the CDC, in written and/or electronical format. Guests should contact the Front Desk upon arrival to schedule departure testing. In the event of a positive test, the affected guest and a companion can extend their stay up to 10 days at no additional cost. A three-night minimum stay is required to be eligible for both the free on-site test and the 10-day extension.
