Steps from the heart of Cancun’s nightlife, the upscale Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach is unique in that it’s not all-inclusive; this gives it a more relaxed atmosphere that caters to a mix of families and couples. Its location, however, also attracts singles and party seekers. The beach here is smaller and less impressive than beaches at properties to the south, along the eastern edge of the Hotel Zone (this factor lowers the Overall Beach Resort Rating from the upper A range to the lower A range); but the water is calmer and safer for swimming, with less wind typically. The resort offers a beautiful 40,000-square-foot spa with an impressive hydrotherapy circuit (it’s the only spa in Latin America with a 10-step circuit) and unique gemstone treatments, excellent on-site restaurants (albeit a bit expensive), a kids club, a nice pool just steps from the beach with multiple swim-up bars, and a good fitness center with ocean views. The spacious suites are well-appointed; they come with plenty of space, marble floors and bathrooms, dark wood furnishings, flat-screen TVs, and balconies with top-notch views (especially from the upper floors). On-site activities are somewhat limited, but water sports and plenty of shops, restaurants, and other attractions are available in the vicinity.
All guests are eligible for a complimentary COVID-19 antigen test on-site prior to departure. Also, at check-in, guests are offered insurance, called “Travel with Confidence Protection,” that covers any accidents or illnesses (including COVID) at a cost of $4 USD per night. In the event of a positive test and the need for an extended stay, the insurance will reduce room rates to $10 USD (plus taxes) per person per night.
