Adjacent to two 18-hole golf courses, the Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos caters well to both families and couples with a lively atmosphere and quality swimming pool areas (including a separate adult-only pool with a swim-up bar). The ocean is rocky and not suitable for swimming here because of the undertow (although snorkeling is possible, this factor has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, downgrading it from the lower A range to the upper B range), the standard rooms are somewhat basic for the price (although the suites and villas are significantly more upscale), and it can be difficult at times to reserve lounge chairs and umbrellas by the pool; but the resort offers an excellent selection of on-site restaurants and bars, modern décor and chic Mexican accents, the only wine spa in Los Cabos (it uniquely incorporates wines from the Baja California and Mediterranean regions in its treatments, a practice called “vinotherapy”), and an impressive kids club with plenty of space, games and activities. Other features include private dinners for two by the beach, a bright fitness center with cardio equipment overlooking the ocean, and a cool spot for small bites and a happy hour or evening drink in Tapas Bar & Fire Pit, one of several places on the grounds to relax and socialize.
All guests are eligible for a complimentary COVID-19 antigen test on-site prior to departure. Also, at check-in, guests are offered insurance, called “Travel with Confidence Protection,” that covers any accidents or illnesses (including COVID) at a cost of $4 USD per night. In the event of a positive test and the need for an extended stay, the insurance will reduce room rates to $10 USD (plus taxes) per person per night.
