One of the most upscale all-inclusive resorts in all of Mexico (like its sister properties on the Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit coastlines near Cancun and Puerto Vallarta, respectively), the new Grand Velas Los Cabos opened in December 2016 and caters well to both couples and families with outstanding food (especially for an all-inclusive), excellent accommodations with state-of-the-art amenities and an abundance of space (plus superior balconies), and truly impeccable service. The beach is rocky and the ocean is often too rough for swimming because of the undertow (this is a common issue in the area, but it has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating; despite this, the resort still nearly attains perfect Aaa status) and off-site shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity are lacking; but the property offers excellent cuisine variety (its six restaurants each have an experienced chef, plus a buffet restaurant), upscale bars including a rooftop sports bar, a high-end spa with a seven-step hydrotherapy circuit, a superb three-tiered infinity pool area (the lowest level closest to the ocean is for adults only), on-site shopping, a tequila and mezcal tasting room, and outstanding kids and teens clubs. Some suites go above and beyond with private plunge pools, personal workout equipment, and other lavish extras. Available water sports include sailing, fishing, whale watching, and snorkeling.
On-site COVID-19 antigen tests are available on a complimentary basis for guests returning to the United States (minimum three-night stay required). Results are sent via email within 24 hours. In the event of a positive test, the resort will provide a 75% discount for an extended stay until recovery.
