On the very northeastern corner of the Cancun Hotel Zone peninsula, just steps from the heart of the action, the upscale Hyatt Ziva attracts a mix of families, couples, and singles, but especially caters well to families. The adults-only sister resort Hyatt Zilara Cancun (Aaa), about a mile and a half south, is more quiet and couples-friendly, and one of Cancun’s very best overall properties. There’s also an adults-only tower at the Ziva, with its own pool and restaurant. On-site activities are slightly limited by Cancun standards; but in terms of overall quality, the well-rounded property is decidedly strong across the board. It offers two white-sand beach areas (one much bigger than the other), three infinity pools, top-notch dining variety (eight restaurants and six bars, including a microbrewery) with good food for an all-inclusive, a state-of-the-art fitness center with an abundance of space and equipment, a beautiful spa with a hydrotherapy circuit, a nice swim-up bar, an impressive kids club, and an outstanding staff that’s consistently praised by guests. The rooms are upscale, with modern Mexican accents, balconies with ocean views (or views of the resident dolphins in the large dolphin habitat), comfortable beds, and large flat-screen TVs; some have swim-up access or jacuzzis. Activities include swimming with the dolphins, yoga classes, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Top nightlife spots such as Coco Bongo and Señor Frog’s are within easy walking distance.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are available for guests returning to the United States (minimum three-night stay required to qualify). In the event of a positive test, the resort offers up to a 50% discount for guests needing to quarantine until recovery, for up to 14 days (extended stays for up to 14 days are complimentary for guests that enroll in the resort’s Extended Stay protection program for $29 per person upon check-in).
