The most upscale section (by a good margin) of the four-property Iberostar resort complex in Punta Cana, the adults-only Grand Bavaro caters well to couples with tasteful Greco-Roman architecture, a relaxed atmosphere, and opulent rooms with marble bathrooms and jacuzzis. The other three sections, which welcome families with kids, include the Selection Bavaro (Baa1) section and the Dominicana (Ba1) and Punta Cana (Ba1) sections – but they feel miles away. The Grand Bavaro offers significantly better restaurants than the other sections, a superior fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment (it’s one of the best in the entire Caribbean), outstanding swimming pools with a swim-up bar and a genuine tall ship, an excellent white-sand beach with a good amount of space and palapas for shade, strong restaurant variety, an on-site casino, a good on-site golf course, attentive overall service (including butler service), and a new spa with an extensive treatment menu. Swim-out and oceanfront suites are available. The on-site water sports center offers excellent scuba diving and snorkeling excursions, parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides, and windsurfing and sailing lessons. Other activities include stretching classes, yoga classes, riflery, archery, horseshoes, mini golf, beach volleyball, Spanish and dance classes, tennis lessons, and beach soccer.
Free COVID-19 antigen tests are available on-site for all guests returning to the United States. PCR tests are also offered for a fee.
