One of two more economical sections of the four-property Iberostar resort complex in Punta Cana (the other being the Dominicana section, which is basically identical), the Iberostar Punta Cana caters to families with plenty to do. The other two more upscale sections are the family-friendly Selection Bavaro (Baa1) and the adults-only Grand Bavaro (Aa1). The pool in the Dominicana/Punta Cana area lacks a swim-up bar, the rooms are less modern than those in the Selection Bavaro section and could use some updating, only a few accommodations have ocean views, the overall service receives somewhat inconsistent reviews, and the food is just mediocre overall; but the property offers a superior fitness center with state-of-the-art equipment (it’s one of the best in the entire Caribbean), a very strong beachfront with a good amount of space and palapas for shade, good restaurant variety, separate kids and teens clubs with plenty of activities, an on-site casino, a good on-site golf course, and a new spa with an extensive treatment menu. The on-site water sports center offers excellent scuba diving and snorkeling excursions, parasailing, jet skiing, banana boat rides, and windsurfing and sailing lessons. Other activities include stretching classes, riflery, archery, horseshoes, mini golf, beach volleyball, Spanish and dance classes, tennis lessons, and beach soccer. A friendly and interactive entertainment team keeps activities going throughout the day.
Free COVID-19 antigen tests are available on-site for all guests returning to the United States. PCR tests are also offered for a fee.
