A mid-range property on Mexico’s Riviera Nayarit, Iberostar Selection Playa Mita caters mostly to families with friendly service, a kids club that caters to multiple age groups, a mini water park for kids, and a good entertainment staff with evening shows. The hotel was built with 100% regional materials, including quarry stone, marble, and Guanacaste wood. The airport is somewhat far (as is downtown Puerto Vallarta), the beach is on the narrow side, and there aren’t off-site shops and restaurants within walking distance; but the property offers a beautiful tiered infinity pool with an above average swim-up bar, an impressive theater and theater bar (where the evening shows are held), good on-site restaurant variety, tennis courts, a spa with seafront massages and a hydrotherapy area, and a Greg Norman-designed golf course with ocean views. There are three kids club levels, which is highly unique: “Monkey” for ages 4-7, “Dolphin” for ages 8-12, and “Eagle” for ages 13-17. Rooms come with balconies or terraces (most have ocean views), 24-hour room service, minibars, and flat-screen TVs. Activities include cycling, scuba diving, kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, and soccer.
