A couples-only, mid-range all-inclusive resort on the island of Isla Mujeres just off the coast of Cancun, the Isla Mujeres Palace is a tranquil spot with memorable sunsets and a boutique vibe, ideal for a more relaxing vacation. The beach is much smaller and less impressive here than mainland Cancun (this factor has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating), music from next door can sometimes be a nuisance, and dining variety is lacking (there’s just one on-site restaurant); but the resort offers noticeably personalized service, a central pool with an impressive swim-up bar, couples treatments at the spa, an on-site beauty salon, and Resort Credit that can be redeemed at the spa or for nearby activities ($500 USD for 3 nights, $1500 for 5-8 nights, etc.). The spa and fitness facilities are relatively small and limited, but certainly adequate considering the size of the property. The same can basically be said for the beach. Rooms are clean and somewhat modern; they come equipped with balconies, double jacuzzis, flat-screen TVs, CHI hair products and hair dryers, liquor cabinets and mini-bars, bathrobes and slippers, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests also receive a welcome glass of red wine upon arrival. Upgrading to the Concierge Level accommodations includes extra perks like L’Occitane bath amenities, aromatherapy and pillow menus, premium liquor brands, and two 25-minute massages at the spa. Activities include snorkeling, scuba diving, karaoke shows, kayaking, bike rides, glass-bottom boat rides, and stand-up paddleboarding. Off-site shops and restaurants are available within walking distance.
Departure COVID-19 antigen (rapid) testing is available on-site at no cost to guests (for up to two guests per room staying a minimum of three nights) traveling to the United States. Additional tests can be purchased for $19 USD. Results are received within 30 minutes. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at no additional charge for up to 14 days.
