A trendy, upscale resort in San Juan’s Condado district, La Concha caters well to singles and couples with excellent ocean views by day and a lively lobby bar scene by night. The signature seashell-shaped floating restaurant, Perla, designed by Mario Salvatori, is considered an engineering marvel and architectural landmark. There’s no on-site spa or swim-up bar, and there isn’t much for kids to do; but the resort offers three pools (including an adults-only infinity pool with great ocean views and a multilevel main pool with whirlpools and connecting waterfalls), five excellent on-site restaurants, a very good beach area (despite a rock jetty on the west side, which is a bit of an eyesore), a 24-hour casino, a good on-site nightclub (“Fifty Eight”), a bright fitness center overlooking the beach, and impressive overall service. Dogs up to 50 lbs are welcome. Rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows (some have outstanding ocean views), modern décor, large flat-screen TVs, walk-in rain showers, balconies, comfortable pillow-top beds, and Aveda bath amenities. Activities include unique wine yoga classes, regular yoga classes, spin classes, and water sports at the beach such as scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, surfing, and windsurfing. Spa treatments at the Condado Vanderbilt next door can be arranged, as can excursions such as ziplining and trips to one of the island’s bioluminescent bays. Off-site shops and restaurants abound in the immediate vicinity.
As Puerto Rico is a commonwealth of the United States, the CDC COVID-19 testing requirement for U.S. travelers re-entering the U.S. from international destinations does not apply.
