A quaint, 25-room boutique property with affordable rates, Le Reve Boutique Beachfront Hotel is a hidden gem of sorts about 15 minutes north of Playa del Carmen at Xcalacoco Beach, and caters well to couples and honeymooners; impressively, it attains a TripValue of +7, our top score for relative value. Activities are very limited, there isn’t much of a social scene, there’s no fitness center, and there’s just one on-site dining option; but the property offers a very serene overall atmosphere, a beautiful (and equally quiet) beachfront, excellent rooms for the price with modern touches (they’re recently renovated) and alluring balconies, yoga classes, massages, a small kids club, and very personalized service. The on-site restaurant is excellent; it offers local and international dishes and extras such as cooking classes, wine tastings, and a walk-in wine cellar. The pool isn’t very large and it lacks a swim-up bar, but it’s appropriately sized for the number of rooms here. Meal plans are available but not obligatory.
