One of Cancun’s best overall beach resorts, the adults-only Live Aqua caters well to couples with a luxurious vibe, chic décor, an outstanding white-sand beach with plenty of space and lounge chairs/cabanas, and a state-of-the-art, brand new feel; the entire resort was refurbished in 2018. The on-site restaurants receive a relatively high percentage of negative reviews for a resort of this caliber (this is the main factor keeping the Overall Beach Resort Rating below Aaa) and the fitness center is fairly mediocre; but the property offers high-end accommodations with modern amenities, seven impressive swimming pools with varying water temperatures and styles (infinity, lap, etc.), and a fairly social atmosphere (but not over-the-top or too rowdy). Rooms are equipped with large flat-screen TVs, multiple lighting options, aromatherapy menus, private balconies or terraces, robes and bath slippers, Molton Brown bath products, and marble floors. On-site activities are fairly limited. However, shops, restaurants, nightlife, and other attractions are available in the vicinity; La Isla Shopping Village is within easy walking distance, for example. Water sports such as jet skiing, flyboarding, and hoverboarding are also available within walking distance at Jetpack Adventures.
All guests are eligible for a complimentary COVID-19 antigen test on-site prior to departure. Also, at check-in, guests are offered insurance, called “Travel with Confidence Protection,” that covers any accidents or illnesses (including COVID) at a cost of $4 USD per night. In the event of a positive test and the need for an extended stay, the insurance will reduce room rates to $10 USD (plus taxes) per person per night.
