One of the more economical all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Occidental Caribe often has a party vibe and caters to a mix of singles and families. The food is lackluster and gets mixed to poor reviews, some guests complain about the overall service, the atmosphere can be too rowdy for some at peak times of year, and the rooms are fairly basic and dated; but the property offers a good beach, excellent restaurant variety, two large lagoon-style swimming pools, a small kids water park, a unique circus-style trapeze with classes, a rock climbing wall (also unique), a decent (though quite tired) fitness center, a lively swim-up bar, and an airport transfer service. Activities include foam parties in the pool, giant chess, evening shows at the theater, sailing, beach volleyball, tennis, basketball, kayaking, parasailing, a great variety of scuba diving and snorkeling trips, deep sea fishing, and jet boat rides. Other excursions that can be arranged include trips to Punta Cana’s renowned cave nightclub, horseback riding and jungle cave exploring, jeep safaris, and ziplining, among much more.
On-site COVID-19 testing is offered prior to departure, but it isn’t complimentary.
