Conveniently located near the heart of Cancun’s Hotel Zone, Occidental Tucancun caters well to families. It’s a good option for those looking to be relatively close to Cancun’s best nightlife, too. The rooms are somewhat dated, the beach lacks palapas or umbrellas for shade, on-site dining variety is just so-so for an all-inclusive, and the food is mostly disappointing; but the property offers an excellent white-sand beach with a good beach volleyball court (the high quality of the beach helps the Overall Beach Resort Rating significantly), three swimming pools (one is adults-only with a swim-up bar, another has a ring of in-water loungers), a kids club open from 9am to 5pm for ages 4 to 11, and a babysitting service. Activities include beach volleyball, beach soccer, salsa and Zumba classes, water aerobics, water polo, and darts. There’s also a multi-sport court with basketball and tennis. Water sports are available in the vicinity but not directly on-site. There’s a shopping mall directly across the street (Kukulcan Plaza); La Isla Shopping Village is also within walking distance. Both offer plenty of shops and restaurants.
On-site COVID-19 testing is offered prior to departure, but it isn’t complimentary.
