A strong all-around beach resort with a good selection of activities and a nice location just north of Puerto Morelos, the affordable Ocean Coral & Turquesa caters well to both couples and families; with a +5 TripValue, it’s one of the Riviera Maya’s best bargains. The fitness center and spa facilities are only average, beach loungers can be difficult to reserve at peak times of year, and the nightly entertainment gets mixed reviews; but the property offers a nice white-sand beachfront, tastefully decorated (albeit somewhat dated) rooms with subtle Asian-tropical inspirations, four large swimming pool areas, clean rooms and common areas, decent food for an all-inclusive with excellent restaurant variety, a lively swim-up bar, and quality customer service. Rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs, complimentary minibars, and balconies or terraces. Activities include scuba diving, snorkeling, dance classes, rock climbing (highly unique), windsurfing, catamaran sailing, kayaking, tennis, stretching, tai chi, bocce, and aerobics classes. Upgrading to “Privilege” status includes breakfast in bed, a welcome bottle of wine, reserved lounge chairs and Bali beds on a private area of the beach, access to a lounge with premium drinks and hors d’oeuvres, butler service, slightly better rooms, and preferred restaurant reservations.
