Decidedly one of the best values in the Playa del Carmen area (and even the greater Riviera Maya; the TripValue here is +6), Ocean Riviera Paradise attracts both couples and families, but caters especially well to families (couples should check out the adults-only El Beso section, booked separately). With an A1 Overall Beach Resort Rating, it’s the best Ocean brand resort on the Riviera Maya; its nearby sister properties include Ocean Coral & Turquesa (A2) in Puerto Morelos and Ocean Maya Royale (Baa2), also in Playa del Carmen. Some rooms are a long walk from the beach and the grounds can be crowded at peak times of year; but the property offers a very nice white-sand beach with palapas and umbrellas for shade, a first class fitness center with floor-to-ceiling windows and plenty of equipment, a beautiful spa, quality rooms for the price with modern amenities and a subtle Asian-tropical vibe, good food for an all-inclusive, excellent kids and teens clubs, a bowling alley (highly unique), an ice cream parlor, and a very upscale coffee shop with plenty of space. The resort is robust by the numbers, too, with 10 restaurants, 11 bars (including an outstanding sports bar, a beach bar, and an impressive four swim-up pool bars), and five swimming pools including a kids pool with a small water park area. On-site activities include jet skiing, scuba diving, beach volleyball, and more. Upgrading to “Privilege” status includes breakfast in bed, luxury beach towels, access to a private area of the beach with drink service, access to a lounge with premium drinks, butler service, slightly better rooms (suites feature large private terraces with jacuzzis), and preferred restaurant reservations.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are offered on-site for guests traveling back to the United States.
