A beautiful, modern, all-inclusive luxury resort in the upscale Playacar neighborhood, within easy walking distance of the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen, Playacar Palace is one of the top beach resorts on the Riviera Maya; it caters well to couples, singles, and families. On-site dining variety is below average for an all-inclusive (there are just three restaurants), on-site activities are somewhat limited, and the fitness center is fairly small and basic for a resort of this caliber; but the property offers an impeccable white-sand beach with plenty of space, a nice pool just steps from the sand, very good food for an all-inclusive, nightly entertainment, a sleek spa with hydrotherapy and herbal steam rooms, excellent overall service, an outstanding swim-up bar with plenty of seating and ocean and sunset views, and an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Von Hagge. Rooms come equipped with liquor dispensers, large flat-screen TVs, marble floors, jacuzzis, complimentary Wi-Fi, CHI hair products, and a bottle of red wine upon arrival; many have quality ocean views. Activities include fitness classes (Zumba, Pilates, and Aqua Spinning), beach and pool volleyball, and others that guests can track on the Palace Resorts app. The shops, restaurants, bars, and nightlife of Playa del Carmen’s vibrant Fifth Avenue and surrounding area are easily accessible, as is the ferry to Cozumel (right next door, adjacent to Señor Frog’s).
Departure COVID-19 antigen (rapid) testing is available on-site at no cost to guests (for up to two guests per room staying a minimum of three nights) traveling to the United States. Additional tests can be purchased for $19 USD. Results are received within 30 minutes. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay at no additional charge for up to 14 days.
