The most exclusive of the three Riu properties in the Puerto Vallarta/Riviera Nayarit area, the Riu Palace Pacifico caters to couples, families and singles with a fun atmosphere and a good amount of activities. The other two nearby Riu properties are the more economical Riu Jalisco (B2) and Riu Vallarta (Ba2). The food at the Palace Pacifico is just so-so overall, the rooms are somewhat dated, and the fitness center doesn’t have much; but the resort offers a good beachfront (better than most in the area, with plenty of lounge chairs and palm trees for shade; reserving chairs is never an issue here), elegant common areas, great cuisine variety, and an excellent swimming pool with an outstanding swim-up bar. Rooms come with hydromassage tubs, minibars, liquor dispensers, sitting areas with sofas, coffee makers, and balconies or terraces; many have outstanding ocean views and the Jacuzzi Suites have jacuzzi terraces. Water sports on the beach include scuba diving, catamaran sailing, surfing excursions, and kayaking. Horseback riding and golf are also offered nearby.
Guests returning to the U.S. can take the COVID-19 antigen test on-site. There is no additional cost for all adults and children. This service is available at all Riu resorts in Mexico (except Riu Plaza Guadalajara), Jamaica, Aruba, and Punta Cana and is provided by an accredited medical testing lab that complies with the requirements of the CDC. Test results are received within 72 hours prior to departure, as required by the CDC. In the event of a positive test, Riu Hotels will provide an extension of up to 10 days at no cost.
