With low rates and good beach and pool areas, the Royal Solaris caters well to families on a budget. The food is only mediocre at best, dining variety is below average for an all-inclusive, and deck space around the pool can feel cramped with limited lounge chairs; but the property offers a good white-sand beachfront, a nice swimming pool area with in-water loungers and a swim-up bar, a large oceanfront hot tub (highly unique), a small kids water park with small slides, a basic on-site spa, a decent fitness center, a kids club, late night snacks and drinks, and an entertainment team that keeps games and activities going throughout the day. The rooms are basic, but recent refurbishments have given them a modern feel; some have balconies with jacuzzis and ocean views. Activities include scuba diving, parasailing, deep sea fishing, jungle boat tours, Pilates and boot camp classes, live nightly shows, dance classes, water polo, beach volleyball, and various other games. Kayaks and pedal boats can also be reserved.
Guests returning to the United States and staying four nights or more are eligible for a complimentary COVID-19 antigen test on-site, prior to departure (two people per room per stay). Additional tests can be purchased for $12 USD each (this is also the fee for guests staying less than four nights).
