With an impeccable white-sand beachfront (the property is on a particularly pristine stretch of Grace Bay Beach, which is one of the very best beaches in the Caribbean) and some of the most affordable rates in Turks & Caicos, Royal West Indies Resort is a great value for both couples and families. The rooms are fairly dated, there’s just one on-site restaurant (“Pelican Bay”; on the plus side, the reviews are generally quite positive), and common beach resort amenities such as a spa, fitness center, swim-up bar, and tennis courts are missing here; but the property offers an exceptional beach (this factor has a very strong positive effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating and TripValue), two quality swimming pool areas (they’re especially impressive for a boutique resort), in-room spa treatments, weekly theme nights such as all-you-can-eat lobster with live reggae and weekly sunset punch parties, bicycles for rent, and friendly overall service. There are a few off-site shops and restaurants within walking distance. The atmosphere is mostly relaxing and quiet, and the grounds and beach area are usually pleasantly uncrowded. All rooms are suites, ranging in size from studios to two bedrooms; they come with living areas, flat-screen TVs, kitchenettes or full kitchens, and balconies or terraces. Activities on-site and in the immediate vicinity include parasailing, sailing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, horseback riding, jet skiing, water skiing, sunset cruises, and snorkeling tours.
