A classic-Negril, cliffside hotel, Samsara Cliffs caters especially well to couples with a tranquil vibe and some of the lowest rates for an oceanfront resort on the entire island. While it doesn’t score well as a beach resort (mainly because, well, there’s no beach), most guests are pleasantly surprised by the overall experience here, especially those looking to unwind; the hotel prides itself on its lack of activities and schedules. The lack of a sand beach has a substantial negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating, downgrading it from the lower B range to the lower C range. In lieu of a sand beach, however, there’s a fairly expansive stone sundeck with lounge chairs and steps and ladders leading down to the ocean, where there’s great on-site snorkeling. There’s no fitness center or swim-up bar, the two swimming pools are quite small and basic, and the rooms are bare bones and dated (no surprise there considering the rock-bottom rates); but the property offers excellent ocean views, romantic al fresco dinners for two, a small spa with open-air seafront cabana treatments (plus in-room treatments), and an on-site dive shop. A free shuttle (twice daily) is available to the sister property, Legends Beach Hotel (Ca2). All-inclusive plans are available but not obligatory. Ciao Jamaica across the street is known in the area for its pizza, and there are a few other restaurants within walking distance.
On-site COVID-19 testing is not available, but the hotel is providing complimentary transportation to and from a testing site in Negril and will cover the cost of antigen tests for guests staying at least seven nights and traveling back to the United States.
