One of the most upscale beach resorts on the island, the relatively new (opened 2017) Sandals Royal Barbados is an all-inclusive, couples-only property conveniently located in the St. Lawrence Gap (which is known in Barbados for its bars, restaurants, shops, and nightlife). It’s slightly more contemporary and opulent than its sister resort, Sandals Barbados (also Aa1), just next door. It also boasts a few firsts for the Sandals brand, including the first rooftop pool and bar, the first gourmet donut shop, and the first four-lane bowling alley. Like most in the Sandals chain, it has an interactive, social atmosphere that facilitates meeting other vacationing couples. The property offers a very nice white-sand beachfront with a good amount of space, an excellent infinity pool surrounded by upscale loungers and day beds, great restaurants for an all-inclusive with Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks wines and strong dining variety (there are six restaurants on-site and 11 at the sister property next door), a 15,000-square-foot spa, a fairly robust fitness center with personal trainers and Tabata classes, a craft beer bar with 19 international beers, theme nights with quality live entertainment, candlelit dinners for two on the beach, and stunning rooms with state-of-the-art amenities and tasteful style. Rooms come with furnished balconies, large flat-screen smart TVs, walk-in closets, modern bathrooms with rain showers, and Tranquility soaking tubs for two; swim-up suites, private plunge pools, and butler service are also available in certain categories. Activities include complimentary scuba diving (highly unique), kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, Hobie Cat sailing, jet skiing, glass-bottom boat rides, beach volleyball (on a good court), and yoga classes. An excellent selection of off-site shops and restaurants is available within easy walking distance.
All travelers to Barbados are required to present proof of a valid negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at a an accredited or recognized laboratory within three days prior to arrival. It is also necessary to complete your on-line immigration and customs form by going to www.travelform.gov.bb. The form should be completed 24 hours prior to arrival, and preferably include the upload of your negative COVID-19 PCR test result. Travelers will be required to retest with a COVID-19 PCR test 5 days (120 hours) after their arrival in the country. If the result of that second PCR test is negative, that traveler can now enjoy unrestricted movement to public spaces (including the beach). Guests from High and Medium Category countries (which currently includes the UK, the US and Canada) must quarantine in their rooms until the second test is negative.
Complimentary COVID-19 tests are provided on-site for guests prior to departure.
