Featuring a full-fledged water park with very impressive waterslides and a natural rainforest setting with wildlife, the all-inclusive Sandos Caracol Eco Resort caters well to families. There are adults-only sections, however, as well (the Select Club rooms, booked separately, are in this area; there are designated adults-only beach and pool areas, too). The rooms have a basic feel overall and the beach is somewhat small and below average for the Riviera Maya, with good sand but a rocky shoreline (this has a negative effect on the Overall Beach Resort Rating); but the property offers eco-friendly accommodations, a lively swim-up bar, nightly shows, a kids club, a good fitness center, a nice spa with outdoor massages in a jungle setting and Mayan Temazcal ceremonies, and fairly good food for an all-inclusive with excellent restaurant variety. There’s a plethora of activities here, too, including river boat rides through the jungle (adults only), scuba diving, jet skiing, kayaking, sailing, beach volleyball, bike tours, yoga classes, eco tours, underground Mayan cooking classes, and swimming and snorkeling in the on-site rainforest cenote (which is beautiful, with crystal-clear water).
Departure COVID-19 antigen tests are available on-site on a complimentary basis for guests traveling to the United States. Results take an average of 24 hours. In the event of a positive test, guests can extend their stay for up to 14 days at no additional cost.
