An isolated resort with a hidden, under-the-radar vibe, the adults-only Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa caters well to couples and honeymooners. It’s easily the best beach resort in the Huatulco area, and the atmosphere is both social and quiet. Timeshare sales pitches can be aggressive, the sand here is a little coarse for some guests’ liking (it’s not powder-soft), and some aspects of the resort are showing slight signs of wear and tear; but the property offers a private golden-sand beach with plenty of space and a secluded feel (rare for Mexico), two expansive infinity pools just steps from the sand (one has a swim-up bar), a spacious fitness center with a good selection of equipment, great food for an all-inclusive with top-notch dining variety (eight restaurants to choose from, although not all are always open), and two beautiful outdoor lounges overlooking the sea (Sky Bar and Sugar Reef). The outstanding accommodations come with great ocean views, re-stocked minibars, whirlpools for two, private balconies or terraces, brightly colored décor, and 24-hour room service; some have swim-out access or balconies with jacuzzis. The exceptional Secrets Spa by Pevonia offers an array of treatments including seaweed wraps, couples Swedish massages, various facials, hot stone massages, and hydrotherapy with a memorable view. Activities include beach volleyball, Hobie Cat sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, jet skiing (seasonal), yoga and fitness classes, live shows and music, theme nights, weekly managers’ cocktail parties, and movies under the stars. Whales can occasionally be spotted from the grounds.
Complimentary COVID-19 antigen tests are provided on-site for guests traveling back to the United States. Test results will be received the same day in a format consistent with government requirements. A minimum 3-night stay is required to qualify. Should a guest test positive, the guest and one other are eligible to stay at the resort free of charge for up to 14 days.
